This is a reaction to the mass exodus of users from Twitter after the re-election of Donald Trump, with this event likely being the final straw rather than the sole catalyst: Twitter has become overrun with bots and scams, an absolute dream of a playground for interference actors (particularly of the Russian variety), and the quality of discourse there is among the most toxic you will ever find on a mainstream social media site. He uses a [single tweet "experience report"](https://x.com/asymmetricinfo/status/1856388352381010222 "Megan McArdle Twitter: Bluesky Experience") (if you'll humor me) from a conservative pundit for the Washington Post, in which she writes 4 points that were so offensively dumb, I wrote over three thousand words refuting them without so much as leaving my markdown document to find a source.
