# Project Descriptions Perplexity >The first Armchair Authorities video essay. This video focuses on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - DEI. The goals of the video are to explain to people what DEI really is, the motivations behind it, how it was actually implemented, and the impacts it had (and DIDNT have). We want to tie this into the idea of the American meritocracy, and make the argument that DEI is not antithetical to the American meritocracy, but necessary for it. Centuries of racism, systemic oppression, structural barriers and inequality, and more have prevented certain minority groups from getting to the positions they should be in, despite being the most capable candidates. DEI helps rectify this issue, and helps Americans all have the same *opportunities* (NOT the same OUTCOMES). We also want to argue that the current admin is the most "DEI" (by Republican definition) of all federal admins due to the number of completely incapable and unqualified candidates that dont deserve their jobs (with some humor) Claude >My girlfriend and I are doing research and writing the script for our first YouTube video essay to be uploaded to our channel - Armchair Authorities - which will make longform video essay content primarily on US politics, but could expand to other topics in the future. The video should be well researched, use academic papers as much as possible and relevant news sources from esteemed news providers, while also being funny and entertaining throughout. The overall goals of the channel will be to fight against the misinformation polluting our politics, focusing especially on the narratives that the Republican party and MAGA spend a lot of time and energy on, while also teaching and encouraging people how to research, critically analyze, and build beliefs for themselves.
